Motivation from the Kites on Makar Sankranti

Wish you all a very happy Makar Sankranti. Makar Sankranti is celebrated as the harvest festival. Its a time to be grateful for the food we consume and also for those who toil to bring it to our plate.

Makar Sankranti also signifies the tapering off of the harsh winter. It also marks the beginning of a new lunar year.

On this day, the sky is filled with a splash of color from an array of kites. The indian kitchens emnate aromas of freshly roasted til and gud. All the lovely sights and aromas led me to pen down this verse. Hope it motivates you as much as it motivated my family.

Like the kites,
     that soar the limitless sky;
no fear of entanglement,
     keeping the head held high.

Not bothered by others more vibrant,
     nor looking at self with despise;
just waiting to explore the seamless blue,
    savoring all that meets the eye.

Aspire to be free,
     like the kite today;
unflustered by the string,
     that controls you; shows you the way.

The strings are the values,
     that demarcate right from wrong;
they are the assets that make you YOU,
     guide you, keep you strong.

Be one with the sky,
     spread your wings and fly;
the sky is limitless, and so are YOU,
      nothing is impossible, till you fail to try.

Happy Makar Sankranti. Stay grateful. Stay blessed.
